What is the cost of a garage floor coating per square foot? Garage floor coatings are a lot more affordable than you might think.
Glossy Floors has been proudly installing epoxy garage floor coatings from Bentonville, Arkansas, and Fort Smith, Arkansas to Kansas City, Missouri, and Branson, Missouri since 1987. The cost of a garage floor coating is largely based on our service area within the Central United States. Pricing for garage floor coatings may vary depending on your actual location. Remember, not all epoxy concrete coating companies are created equal.
Pricing for garage floor coatings, whether it’s for an epoxy coating in your single car garage or an epoxy coating in your 3 car garage is, at least to Glossy Floors, pretty standard. Keep in mind that while we can install a beautifully polished concrete floor in your garage, we typically do not recommend it.
By answering a few simple questions, you can get the cost of a garage floor coating per square foot for just about any garage floor.
The questions below are designed to help you understand what a garage floor coating company, or at least Glossy Floors, is going to need to ask (Or find out before giving an estimate) before giving you the cost of a garage floor coating per square foot. To find out how much you could end up paying for the most beautiful and affordable flooring options available, answer the questions below:
- How durable would you like your garage floor coating to be? Are you just parking cars on your garage floor or does it have another use?
- How many square feet do you plan on having coated? The more square footage there is to coat, the lower the price is going to be.
- How many doors does your garage have? We pay close attention to the garage entrance.
- What type of flooring do you currently have? Does the concrete coating company need to remove an existing coating or is it bare concrete?
- What shape is the concrete to be coated in? Holes, cracks, and pits will need to be repaired before a coating can be applied.
- Do you want an unusual color combination? It’s a small detail, but it does add a small cost.
- Do you want any sort of design on your garage floor? Designs can range from borders and checkered boxes to other detailed designs.
The Cost Of Garage Floor Coatings Per Square Foot?
Answering the first question, “How durable would you like your garage floor coating to be?” helps the concrete coating company determine if which type of sealer to use. Our basic sealer can withstand almost any chemical, but depending on what the garage floor is being used for, we have another sealer designed to withstand just about any chemical. It does come with a cost though.
Most homeowners are completely happy with our standard sealer. If, however, you plan on having battery acid spill on the floor all the time, we have a much more durable sealer.
Garage floor coatings, in general, can range anywhere from $5.00 per square foot to $7.00 per square foot. Glossy Floors, before giving an estimate, takes the time to examine the floor very carefully. We can usually look at a floor and have a general cost per square foot within a few minutes, but it always takes a thorough examination of the floor to correctly determine the price.
Holes and big gouges are factors that could potentially increase the cost of a garage floor coating. As most customers would like the holes to be filled, smooth, and level, this increases the amount of labor needed to make sure the floor is as structurally sound as possible. Repairs are one of the biggest factors in determining the cost of polished concrete, but not as much with a garage floor coating since they are to be covered up.
By answering the question, “What type of flooring do you currently have?” we are trying to determine how much (if any) labor will be needed in order to remove the existing flooring. If you currently have another coating on your garage floor, it tells us it may take extra time to remove. An existing coating would need to be thoroughly removed before another coating could be installed. This is done by way of grinding the floor with our machines, but the time to remove the coating could vary greatly depending on a number of things, i.e., how long the coating has been on the floor, did the previous epoxy floor coating go on a properly prepared surface, etc.
As you can see, there are a number of details for a garage floor coating contractor to consider when giving an estimate for an epoxy flake floor. The cost associated with garage floor coatings far outweighs any other type of flooring option out there. You might just be surprised at how low the price actually is once you compare it to other flooring products. Glossy Floors will be happy to help determine the cost of a garage floor coating for you.
