Glossy Floors has already begun polishing concrete at the new Cabela’s/Bass Pro Shops combo store in Rogers, Arkansas. The store is just over 100,000 square feet, of which, approximately 21,000 will be renovated.
The new Bass Pro Shops sign went up yesterday and the news cameras were out in bulk. While the Cabela’s sign was coming down and the new Bass Pro Shops sign was going up, Glossy Floors was hard at work polishing the concrete on the inside.
Big decisions had to be made when it came to the floors. As most of you may already know, Cabela’s had existing polished concrete when it first opened and large sections of the store had carpet tiles.
The carpet tiles, once removed, created a ghosting effect that cannot be removed. The challenge is trying to minimize the ghosting effect as much as possible. Teaming up with Ameripolish, Glossy Floors has had some success in minimizing the ghosting.
As recently as last week, Glossy Floors has completed a small section of the new Bass Pro Shops floor. The next section of polished concrete will be completed within the next week.
During the initial phase of the project, Bass Pro Shops management had to decide on a floor that would be easy to maintain and look great in the process.
Initial samples included epoxy and urethane. Ultimately, polished concrete was chosen for its long-term durability, beauty, and ease of maintenance.
