Glossy Floors has been awarded 1st Place by the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) for our work in 2019 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Decorative Resinous Coatings, Under 5,000 SF, 1st Place
The project lasted 14 days and consisted of placing more than 6,300 records in a bed of epoxy. Management at the hotel wanted something unique, and records embedded in the floor seemed like the logical choice.
The center metallic section was completed using MarbleWRAP, an epoxy that has excellent flowability. The color choice came from management who really wanted it to stand out.
Thanks to our friend Terry Beene from the Terry Awards in Branson, Missouri, we were able to get the autographs of Johnny Lee, Mickey Gilley, and Barbara Fairchild. It was a long trip to Branson, Missouri, but it was also well worth it.
We were also able to find a record label for the talented Mr. Stevan Pippin and our friend Mr. Carl Acuff, Jr. has his record embedded as well.
We waited too late to get anything from our friend Deborah Allen, but there’s a record embedded in the floor just for her!
There are many record floors in existence, but to our knowledge, and as of October 1st, 2019, this is the largest vinyl record floor in the world!
What made our project unique were the 45 records that were used. Instead of using the large records, management felt having more (smaller) records would allow more artists to be included.
Coming in at just under 3,500 total square feet, this was a project for the record books.
