What is the cost of polished concrete per square foot? That’s what you should be asking yourself, but only if you’re interested in having the most durable, beautiful floors on the planet! The cost of polished concrete is a lot more affordable than you might think.
We’ve been proudly serving customers from Bentonville, Arkansas and Tulsa, Oklahoma to Branson, Missouri and Kansas City, Missouri since 1987, so the cost of polished concrete floors is largely based on our service area within the Central United States. Pricing for polished concrete may vary depending on your actual location. Remember, not all concrete polishing companies are created equal.
Pricing for polished concrete, whether it’s for polished concrete floors in your garage or polished concrete floors in your restaurant is, at least to Glossy Floors, pretty standard. Keep in mind that the cost of polished concrete for warehouses are going to be different than the cost of polished concrete for residential homes.
By answering a few simple questions, you can get the cost of polished concrete per square foot for just about any type of polished concrete flooring application.
The questions below are designed to help you understand what a polished concrete flooring company, or at least a polished concrete flooring company in Arkansas, Oklahoma or Missouri, is going to need to ask (Or find out before giving an estimate) before giving you the cost of polished concrete flooring per square foot. To find out how much you could end up paying for the most beautiful floor in the world, answer the questions below:
- How polished would you like your concrete floors to be? How glossy on a scale of 1-10.
- How many square feet do you plan on having polished? The more square footage there is to polish, the lower the price is going to be.
- How many rooms would you like to have polished? The more rooms there are, the more edges there are to polish.
- What type of flooring do you currently have? Does the concrete polishing company need o remove it or will someone else remove it?
- What shape is the concrete to be polished in? Holes, cracks and pits will need to be repaired before it can be polished.
- Is it a wide open area or several rooms?
- Do you want plain polished concrete or stained polished concrete? Stained concrete isn’t very expensive, but it does add cost.
Answering the first question, “How polished would you like your concrete floors to be?” helps the polished concrete company determine which grit level to stop with. If you want a floor where you can practically see your reflection in the floor, this would be more expensive as each step to 3,000 grit must be performed.
If you wanted an 800 grit polish, which is still very reflective, there aren’t as many steps, so the price is decreased.
Polished concrete, in general, can range anywhere from $2.00 per square foot to $7.00 per square foot. Glossy Floors, before giving an estimate, takes the time to examine the floor very carefully. We can usually look at a floor and have a general cost per square foot within a few minutes, but it always takes a thorough examination of the floor to correctly determine the price.
Holes and big gouges are major factors that could potentially increase the cost of polished concrete floors. As most customers would like the holes to be filled, smooth and level, this increases the amount of labor needed to make sure the floor is as structurally sound as possible. Repairs are one of the biggest factors in determining the cost of polished concrete.
By answering the question, “What type of flooring do you currently have?” we are trying to determine how much labor will be needed in order to remove the existing flooring. If you currently have carpet on the floor, it tells us we may be removing lots of glue. The glue would need to be thoroughly removed before the concrete could be polished. This is done by way of grinding the floor with our machines, but the time to remove the glue could vary greatly depending on a number of things, i.e., how long the carpet has been on the floor, did the carpet layers even use glue, etc.
If you currently have tile on the floor, the type of tile makes a big difference. It could imapact the cost of polished concrete. Linoleum tiles will usually have glue and ceramic tiles will usually have a thin layer of material designed to level the floor beneath the tile. In order to polish the concrete floor, this would need to be removed.
As you can see, there are a number of things for a concrete polishing contractor to consider when giving a bid for a polished concrete floor. The cost associated with polished concrete floors far outweighs any other type of flooring option out there. You might just be surprised at how low the price actually is once you compare it to other flooring products.
